Bees (honey & bumble)

The honey and bumble bees, are the two most common types of bees. Even though they are both capable of stinging, they will only attempt to string if they are threatened or disturbed. The honey bee is quite small, and is around 12mm long. These small bees also have black and dark yellow stripes marked on their body.

Before attempting to remove honey bees, it is always recommended seeking advice from a beekeeper. Most importantly, we should never spray these bees with insecticide, as these creatures are a valuable insect to nature. Incorrect use of insecticide can also result in many of hives being destroyed.

Bumble bees
Bumble bees are typically larger than honey bees, and also look more furry. This type of bee is also very reluctant to sting, as their nests usually contain 200 to 400 bees, and will naturally die out in the winter. However, if they are causing disruption, or you have allergies to their stings, then it is possible for them to be removed and relocated.

Wasps

Wasps usually become a problem towards the end of Summer, which is when their food supplies run short. In this case, wasps will therefore search for any left over foods with a high sugar content, which include many foods and drinks.

Wasps also make their nests by chewing up wood, which they then make into paper. Very often, wasp nests look like footballs, which can then be found in trees, lofts or even in the ground. It is true that a wasp nest can contain as many as 20,000 wasps. However, the usual amount is normally between 2,000 and 5,000 wasps. Treatment is usually performed either before dawn, or after dusk when most of the wasps will most likely be resting in their nests, which can then be removed by using a powder or spray.
